New wheels!

Wow! This has been much more difficult than we thought it would be. Mom is having trouble learning to drive! She won't watch where she is going, but is constantly looking down at the controls. She does fine outside on the driveway and she has managed to go up the ramp at the house, but inside the house is a bit difficult. It is sort of dangerous in there because she can scrape up her arms. She can't grasp that to stop, she has to just let go of the joy stick! By the way, notice the drought killed yard. That is her front yard. It is pitiful!

I don't know if you and your brother have tried out the chair and how to guide it from her position.....but,it isn't as easy as the demonstrator makes it look. You both should try it. Especially inside the house.
Let her practice outside and have her pull her arm in toward her inside the house..maybe even on her lap, until she gets the hang of it.
I am happy for her that you got her the chair. Can you tell she feels more independent? Beth

It may help her to tell her to raise her hand and make a stop sign like a policeman directing traffic when she wants to stop...then she has to take her hand off to do that and it will make her let loose of the joystick. Beth
