Who cares?

Haven't done any updates lately because I just don't seem to see progress. Some days are better than others and today was a bit frustrating. My brother is gone again so I have all the Mom duties which means I must be with her at noon and at dinner to help her with her meals. Leaves no time for me when I need to be getting my yard in shape and starting our garden. Today, my vacuum cleaner of about one year broke the wheels off the bottom, so I had to find a place to get it repaired..take it to Shreveport and get back between her lunch and about 4:30 when I go back to be with her. I guess I am just feeling the pressure a little more than usual. Today is the day I usually eat with my buds and solve all the world's problems, but, of course, that didn't happen today. I needed that outlet today! Ok..I'll stop whining. I'm just tired!

At least you still have the 'want to' to do your regular things. I lost the energy to even care about doing that . Remember to take care of yourself. When she comes home ....you will need all the energy you can muster. My whole world became dad...we got outside a lot while I was with him.
Get outside when you can ...you love it so much. Maybe you can take your mom in her wheelchair out on the grounds at the rehab place so she can get outside and you can be outside there too.
Some days it seems like no progress, then something will happen....they may need to push her a little harder...she really can do it. You want to get her as well as you can before attempting to bring her home.
Life is hard and this will be one of the hardest thing you have ever done. Beth

Beth, we do go outside at the facility and sit in the sun when we can. She likes to do that and she needs the Vitamin D.

Sometimes it is the littlest things that can make a difference. :) You guys have fun. Like going out to eat the other day...sure did brighten her day and helped her speaking.
I can see being without your brother's help is harder for you. I had my mom and one of my brothers and that helped a lot. Mom went back to work, she just couldn't handle dad by herself during the day and my brother lived next door and eventually moved in with them to help her with him at night. Your mom seems to have progressed further than dad did, already.
Did I tell you his was a massive stroke, which they didn't tell us until one of the therapy girls let it slip during a connference.
If you are thinking of an electric wheelchair , you might want to get that process going if they will let you. It takes a while to get it after it is all okayed and ordered. Dad was like a little kid waiting for his and that independence it brought. Hugs to you . Beth.
