Ouch! OH!

That's what will be coming from my mind tomorrow morning. Three of us decided to start going to the rec center and working out today. One of my friends was stricken with transverse myelitis a couple of years ago and it has left her with nerve damage and using a cane to walk. She wanted to start swimming, so we went. I think it will help her and God knows I need to start my workouts again. It's been two and one half years since I moved away from my awesome wellness center in Beaumont where I was very faithful in going several times a week. I will not be swimming, but I will be using the machines
. Treadmill

Bro took Dad to his treatment today and I went and got Mom to take her to her foot doctor and to get some groceries for her. We are still getting rain and I just didn't feel comfortable with her driving herself to the doctor by herself. Usually Dad is with her. Tomorrow Dad is getting some kind of urology procedure to try to stretch the uretha and give him some relief with his prostate problems. Brother will handle that appointment as well as get his Neulasta shot to boost his red blood cells after this round of chemo.

Hope things went well at the workout. I am in Shreveport, LA and was diagnosed with transverse myelitis 5+ years ago. I will be interested to hear how the swimming went for your friend. I think it will do a world of good --one thing that keeps me from trying it is that I think I'd have a lot of trouble getting in and out of a pool with the regular ladders, etc. And then there's the swimsuit. Kudos to you for going with your friend.

We are in Minden. I saw a report on TV about someone in Shreveport who had beat the odds with this malady. Was that you? She did great with the swimming. In fact, we are going again tomorrow. The lap pool is easily accessible with a ramp to just walk in and out. Worked great for her. KTBS did a spot on her a while back in one of their medical miracle spots.

No, I haven't been in any of the TV features. I have exchanged e-mail with Marilyn in Minden however. It's encouraging to hear about the swimming success -- it's got to be good for stretching and various things. I'd LOVE to have one of those "endless pools" like they advertise on Lifetime TV. If only someone would "prescribe" it, ha!

I also enjoyed browsing through your blog--the one post came up on my Google Alert for transverse myelitis is how I happened onto it.

Y'all have a good time tomorrow!

Carolyn
