Ummmm....NO!

In between putting up the beets today, my brother, his wife and I went out to pick beans on our one row of pinto beans. It ended very abruptly for me with a scream and a run! I pulled back one of the bushes to get the beans from under it and there was a black snake all coiled up under there. They went to try to find it after I screamed and ran. They saw it, but then lost it and were unable to kill it. My brother wouldn't have killed it anyway because he said it looked like a chicken snake. Anyway, my bean picking days are over. I know it makes no sense to be that scared of snakes, but it is what it is and it always has been. Looks like it is not going to change!!!!!

I can really relate to that. I do not want anything to do with snakes, scare me to death.

Beets are so pretty but I haven't tried them.

Sandy,

I need your advice. My son-in-law made me 3 raised beds in which I planted tomatoes and peppers in the 1st, several kinds of squash in the 2nd and am trying snow peas in the 3rd just for the heck of it. The squash bed has little white bugs flying around. What can I do to get rid of them? I remember Dad talking about that but never paid attention to what he did about it. Thanks in advance for you help.

Keep the gardening pictures coming. I just love it.

Linda, I keep a sprinkle can of Sevin dust and put it on everything that I see a bug on. So far, it has done the job and is safe. That's what Dad used, so that's all I know.
