- hot, buttered cornbread
- fresh smothered okra, tomatoes and onions
- new potatoes and onions smothered in butter (not oleo)
All fresh from a garden...not my garden, but somebody's. Dad told someone I liked okra, so someone brought a bag of okra to his house for me. Lots of people would not find this appealing, but to me, it's the best part of summer. Well, at least since I retired from teaching school!

That looks so good Sandy and is definitely my kind of eating. Nothing beats fresh veggies out of anyone's garden. Due to lack of space, we only have tomatoes, but friends keep us supplied with the squash, okra, etc.
Of course the cornbread is a must!
Have not commented lately, but want you to know your dad and family have been in my prayers.

Thanks, Claudia. Wish you were close enough to come have some fresh vegies. We covet your prayers. My sister-in-law said it wasn't the chemo, but all those prayers. He is so impressed that so many churches have him on their prayer lists.
I do like my okra! I like it every way I have ever eaten it..boiled, fried, gumbos, pickled, whatever..
I didn't plant any this year but I will next year..I do think the bloom on okra is as pretty as any flower..
