These words are most often misused and it drives me bonkers. It even happens on professional signs, webpages, TV ads....it's freakin' everywhere!
- its = possession.....no apostrophe EVER
- it's= it is
- their= possession
- there= a place
- they're= they are
- your= possession
- you're=you are
When I was a teacher, I harped on this...but, alas, no one learned!

My big one right now with the kids is "can" vs. "may". We were in a restaurant the other night and Madd said, "Can I go to the bathroom?" so I said, "May I go to the restroom?" to which she replied, "I asked first."
I do believe Madd got your sense of humor!!
Sandy,
PLEASE do not click on the last comment, stoopid me did and red flags and warnings went all over.
As a former proofreader for the local newspaper, these are pet peeves of mine. I am in the former Court TV chat channel and these are the very words most often used and I have to backspace as not to correct them. :)
Enjoyed the cute post. Brought back memories. Have a great day!
