Itching for golf

It's this time of the year that I get enthusiastic about playing golf again. It doesn't last long because I don't play when it is unbearably hot, but the Krewe that I joined here is having their Cochan du Lait in June at the local golf course along with a fun tournament. I'm thinking I might want to play in that tournament so I need to get out and start practicing so as to maybe not embarrass myself quite so much. The only problem is that every time I play golf here, it costs me about $40 since I am not a member anywhere. That adds up rather quickly!

Daddy time...

This morning I made my famous pralines for my sister-in-law. I must say I believe that are the best I have ever made. Scrumptious comes to mind. Tomorrow is her birthday, so I took them to her. She wasn't home, so I just left them there and went to Dad's. I knew Mom was at the beauty shop, so I went and sat outside with Dad for a little while. He gets bored and lonely without her there. He is soooooo dependent on her that he would not survive without her.

I also went to lunch with the ladies today and did an Aerify treatment on my yard. It is supposed to loosen up clay, but I can't tell that it does anything. I used it several times last year. After I use this up, I won't be buying anymore.

I learned today from one of the girls who is going to build a house right behind me that real soon they will build the street and begin construction. Good! That will put a street between me and the mice field.

EEEEEWWWWWW!!!!

My neighbor had some workers at her house today installing outside lights. When they went up in the attic, they found a dead mouse! Now I am worried that I may find the same thing. So far all mine have been outside. How in the hell do they get in the attic!!!!! Mouse

No work today!

I spent the entire day taking Mom to her cardiologist in Shreveport. She got a fairly good report and doesn't have to go back for 6 months. As an insulin dependent diabetic, she MUST eat at regular intervals or she will have a low blood sugar. Her appointment was at 12:30 and she FORGOT to eat anything before we left. I grabbed a couple of candies out of my candy dish as we left just knowing she would probably need them before she got any food. She DID! Her low blood sugars really scare me. She didn't have one, but she would have if I hadn't brought that candy for her. After we got back from Shreveport, we had to get her groceries at Wal Mart. She almost didn't make it. I had to make her go sit down while I checked out her groceries. She tries to do too much in one day and she absolutely will not give up. I love that about her, but sometimes it can be a detriment!

Jack Pot

No, I didn't win the Mega Millions or at the casino, but I sure did at Hobby Lobby today! I haven't done any scrapbooking since November, so I decided it was time to get started again including buying the next scrapbook. Turns out it was my lucky day. All the scrapbooking stuff was 50% off. I got myself a deal this day!

Totally Tapped Out...

Physically, I am tapped out! I spent most of the day with my dad, taking him to the garden center at Wal Mart to get a truck load of stuff. Since I prepared his rose bed on Saturday, all we had to do was add fertilizer, roses and then mulch. He bought 12 roses and I got them all planted and mulched. That doesn't sound like much, but it wore me out.

Non-stop Sunday

Rocking Happy Way Too Happy Rolly 2 Goofy Purple Smiles Smiles Cool Brows

I thought Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest. Not for me on this Sunday. This morning I was supposed to bring some breakfast food for Sunday School. I thought I had plenty of time to cook some frozen cinnamon rolls. I cooked those suckers for 45 minutes and they still were not nearly done, so I had to take something else. I've decided that my oven is not right. It always takes longer than it is supposed to. I'll call soon and see if it can be re-calibrated. After church I rushed to my brother's for lunch. Came back to my home briefly before I had to go to a baby shower. Before I went there, I had to go to Wally World to get Dad a new universal remote control for his TV. I took it to him after the shower and programmed it for him while he was sleeping in his bed. He never even woke up. I just left it beside his bed. He'll be happy when he sees it. A man without a remote is a beast!

Second attempt for blogger help

This time I chose left again and chose small for the graphic. If you scroll down to my previous post, I explanined that one as well. As you can see, the graphic published above the post without the word wrap that is shown in the illustration when I picked "left". Their little graphic there shows the words wrapped around the graphic, but with me that does not happen.

Sample post for blogger help group

On this one I chose the graphic and uploaded it before writing the post. Right now as I compose, the graphic sits to the left of my post. I have been able to do this in the past with old blogger and it published correctly, but with new blogger when I publish the graphic will move up above the post on the left. I am now going to publish this and see if the same thing happens again.

Semi-finished project

I lightened this photo to show detail. It is all in the shade right now, so it was a little too dark. All the work is done. Now I just have to watch for all the bulbs to emerge and the roses to put out and bloom. Most of them are already putting on growth, so I hope this project is a success and the results of all my hard work reach my expectations!

Digging in the dirt

I spent the better part of this day digging in the dirt at Mom and Dad's. His new rose bed is all ready to plant roses. We'll do that next week. His strawberry patch is ready to plant as well. While I was outside working, of course, Mom was inside cooking as she always does when I go there to work. My brother and sister-in-law came for lunch and I got the tour of the new million dollar addition they are adding to their church. It is really something special. My dad built their main church back in the 70's for $113,000. It's amazing what that won't pay for now!

Comments

Each day I have been getting some spam on my comments section, therefore I have been forced to turn on the word verification feature. I didn't want to do this, but I was forced to by the unsavory types out there. Sorry.

Sheer exhaustion once again!

I spent all day working in my yard mowing, edging, blowing, planting, installing hangers for hanging baskets on the fence, setting up the bird bath and transplanting some seedlings. All my hydrangeas are starting to put out as is my Bradford pear. Mother Nature is sending us a light freeze tonight and a not so light freeze tomorrow night. My enthusiasm may have been a bit premature! I have put the sensitive stuff in the garage for tonight. I am having trouble getting my bird bath level. It's sitting on concrete pavers, but once I put the water in it, it was obvious it was not level. Because of my analness about such things, I have tried to slip some cardboard pieces under the low side. It has helped, but it's not exactly right yet! I'm climbing up on my bed very soon for a night of veging out watching some TV. My muscles are tired. Tomorrow I am going to Dad's to build his rose garden AGAIN and fix a strawberry bed for him.

WTH!

The gas company has apologized for unreasonably high gas bills. They say it is because the previous months had incorrect readings because of some issues with meter readers! What! That's not my fault! The company should have to just absorb their errors. But NO! We, the customers will be paying for their mistakes.

Dang...I need to chill out!

I started the day getting my permanent crown at the dentist office. The temporary one was working fine! Lunch with the ladies at one of my favorite local spots was next on my agenda after which I was on a mission to find a bird bath that doesn't look like everyone else's. I found it, but it's still in the car. Tomorrow I will get it all set up in its spot. Of course, I had to stop by Lowe's for the mulch that I ran out of yesterday. All my mulch has to match. Yes, I do know how anal I am!!! Right now dinner is in the stove and I will be settling down with Survivor after dinner.

It's the DEVIL again!

Wal Mart garden center just pisses me off! I bought $40 worth of stuff there today, most of it very heavy. I asked for someone to come put it in my car for me. They called for someone to come, but no one ever did. I finally gave up and drove my car right up in the middle of all that stuff, loaded it all myself and helped myself to an extra bag of Miracle Gro potting soil! Damn it...it's their own fault for not hiring staff to help us old codgers! Devil

It's 12:45 and my day is DONE! I went to Dad's and got him and his truck to go get sand for my second rose bed. We put the sand in the bottom, then I took him home and went to Wal Mart to get potting soil and roses to go in the bed. I am finished with all the planting and I didn't quite have enough mulch to cover the bed, but I'll finish it tomorrow. I planted 20 gladiolus, 4 roses (Peace, Pink Peace, Olympiad, Royal Highness), and 20 caladiums in that bed. It is planted exactly the same as the other bed on the other fence. If it all comes up and blooms like I have it pictured in my mind, it will be awesome.

Jam-packed day!

When I move any muscle, I make those old lady sounds! It's because I spent all day working in the garden getting it ready to plant and planting a few early things. My brother and I have now planted potatoes, onions, carrots, beets, and cabbage. Planting is the hard part. It involves either bending over all the time or sitting on the ground, or hands and knees. Hard work, but so worth it at harvest time.

Tonight I went to yet another dinner party, except this one was at a restaurant. I have been so busy today (and had a couple of beers) that I am exhausted. It is a good exhaustion though. I like days when I accomplish a lot. I have not even read my paper and done my crossword puzzle today! I'm not sure I will get that done before I hit the sack.

The devil made me do it!

I skipped church today. I don't even know why because I wasn't sick. The people in my church, for the most part, dress really nicely on Sunday and I just plain did not feel like getting dressed up. I'm tired of my clothes. Devil

I did go to my brother's for lunch and then I took my mom to see her sister who is just home from the hospital after getting a shunt. Then I took a short run to Shreveport to Target with a slight detour by Krispy Kreme! There's that devil at work again!! Devil

I joined!

The Mardi Gras Krewe des Ambassedeurs has asked me several times to join their Krewe. Tonight at a dinner party attended by mostly Krewe members, I went ahead and took the plunge. They are a fun group of people and I think I will enjoy all the festivities. If I don't enjoy it, then next year I won't pay the dues.

WHOA!

Whazzup with this? I moved out of hurricane land and landed in tornado land! We are under a tornado watch and I quote, "This is a particularly dangerous situation." Highest wind gust so far is 32 MPH. That doesn't sound like much if it were a car, but, crap, it will blow everything away that is not nailed down. This is a "stay at home and read a book kind of day"! Unfortunately, I don't have a book to read right now and I am not going to buy one!!
